I cannot honestly believe the craziness that has consumed the last three weeks of March 2020. The regular madness is where we all make selections on a bracket to hopefully gain bragging rights when there is a crowned champion of the 68 teams in NCAA’s “March Madness”.
This year that madness has come in a completely different, and not at all enjoyable, way. This madness (COVID-19 or “Coronavirus”) has disrupted the entire world. It has brought death and pain. Sacrifice. Financial chaos. Worry, fear and anxiety. In the midst of all the “March Madness 2020” we have to remember the hope that we have in Jesus and He is so much bigger than this!!
In one of our online prayer times (8:00 p.m. on Riverlawn’s Facebook Live) we talked about Peter’s encouragement to the church in 1 Peter 5. In the middle of some instructions he was giving, he gives a great life verse for us in this moment of crisis for the world. “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7
If you are feeling anxious about what’s going on, take it to Jesus. I know that sounds like the “churchy” answer, but it is so true. We have to remember that He is so much bigger than everything we are facing and He defeated sin and the grave. Our hope in Jesus far outweighs anything that this virus can do to us.
I will say that if you don’t know Jesus, you should be anxious and concerned about what is happening. I hope that isn’t too mean, but without Jesus as your Lord and Savior your sins are still on you and your destiny will not be heaven for sure. The great thing about this is that you can change that today. You can ask for forgiveness of your sins through Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross and be forgiven and on your way to eternity with Him. Here is a website to go to if you want to know more about what that means: www.nowwhat.love.
May we all stay faithful in the midst of this crisis!
